Abdirizak Nunow is a Lecturer in the School of Environmental Studies at Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya, where he teaches a range of graduate and undergraduate courses on environmental science, human ecology, and arid lands. His main research interests relate to the governance and use of resources in drylands.
He is currently developing new work on land grabbing in the Tana River valley in eastern Kenya and pastoralist responses to worsening constraints on access to high value fodder. His PhD (Amsterdam, 2000) examined the impacts of commercialisation in the livestock sector on pastoralist food security in North-Eastern Kenya. He is an Environmental impact Assessment and Environmental Audit lead expert with the Kenya National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA). Previously he served as Commissioner on the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission representing the interests of marginalised populations in Kenya, including pastoralists.
