Abdi Hussein is a development practitioner with over 25 years experience managing projects in pastoralist areas of Ethiopia and Somalia for international NGOs, UN agencies and national pastoralist groups. This year he will complete his MA in Development Studies at IDS.
He founded the Pastoralist Concern Association of Ethiopia (PCAE), which focuses on delivering development in pastoralist areas as well as public advocacy and political lobbying. As a board member and executive director of PCAE, he organised the Ethiopia Pastoralist Day, which is the largest annual gathering in the Horn of Africa on pastoralist causes. He is editor of On the Move: Understanding Pastoralism in Ethiopia, and is vice chair of the Pastoralist Forum Ethiopia, a national advocacy group.
