A new article by Elena Baglioni (a former Early Career Fellow) and Peter Gibbon (DIIS) examines ‘land grabbing’ in relation to the history of plantation and large- and small-scale farming in sub-Saharan Africa.
It looks at the extent of plantation farming and large-scale farming over the 20th century, the role of policy narratives and state-private interactions.
